Respect for Life and Nature

Tradition in Viticulture - Commitment to biodynamic farming

Biodynamic farming

Eirini Daskalaki (the winemaker) and her daughter Xaroula are fully committed to biodynamic farming. Organic farming without the use of any synthetic chemicals and a reliance on the behavior of the planets and celestial bodies. The meaning of biodynamie in Greek comes from life (bio) and the strength and power of nature (dynamis), and this is fundamental to the commitment that the Daskalaki family embraces everyday in their vineyards.

Unique local varieties

A 3rd generation family business that has revitalized the vineyard since 2008. Located in the small rural village of Siva, 20 km south of Heraklion, they cultivate the land at an altitude of 400 to 600 meters. Their primary focus is with local varieties like Vidiano, Liatiko, Mandilari and Plyto, with the aim of producing high quality wines.

Gold medal winning Vidiano

Vorinos is a 100% Vidiano white wine that took the Gold Medal at the Berliner awards, 2 straight years in 2013 and 2014. A Vidiano with a bright crystal color and light green hues. Visit Silva Daskalakis website >>
